The Raccoon in the Backyard

It was a typical evening. I got home, changed my clothes, and called my mom. I proceeded to dig a hole and planted my feet in the backyard. I was sitting comfortably in the chair, but I realized that I had left one of my magnetic bracelets in my bedroom. I called out to hubby to fetch me the bracelet. He was in the middle of something, so I waited until he had done what he was doing.

While I was waiting, I heard something on the grass coming towards me. My eyes were closed. I thought it was a squirrel because they are always around. My higher-self suggested that I look towards my left. It was a huge raccoon walking slowly towards me, without a care in the world.

I called out my hubby’s name, but I wanted to get the raccoon’s attention. It looked up at me. I pointed my right finger towards the left, and I said, “Can you please go in the other direction?” The raccoon turned around and walked swiftly in the other direction. It was as if it understood every word that I had said to him/her.

I was about 6” away from the fence, and there was no way in hell I was going to let the raccoon pass that close to me. It had its head down and was walking right towards me. The raccoon was about a foot and a half away from me. It was that close; I tell you.

When hubby came out with the bracelet, I told him the story. Moreover, I asked him if a raccoon had ever gotten that close to him. He said, “Yes, and I hope, I never see another one of those things.” I have never seen them that up close. When we had moved to the house, a few years ago, one was living in a tree that was overhanging the roof. That tree had to get cut down because it would have damaged the roof. After we had cut the tree down, the raccoon was never seen again. I doubt this raccoon was the same one. It was several years ago.

Of course, I had to look up the significance of the raccoon coming around me.

Here is what I have found:

Raccoon spirit animals survive better in the dark. They wait until it is dark to gather food and venture out. This is symbolic of not revealing your million dollar ideas. Others may steal it for themselves. It is better to keep your plans a secret until you are ready to announce it to the world. Moreover, the Raccoon totem energy in the shroud of darkness may beg the question, "Do you get your best ideas at nights?" If that is the case, now is the time to start exploring your various options so that you can succeed.
